BALANCE If you were to print this photograph out and cut it in half, you would have to symmetrical photographs. That is what makes this a perfect example of balance. Balance is portrayed through the symmetrical proportion of a photograph. PROPORTION This picture represents proportion perfectly. Proportion often occurs when there is a small subject on top of a large scale. The bird is tiny compared to its surroundings, making this proportion. RHYTHM Movement is captured in this photograph. While looking at this picture you automatically notice the birds wings and you feel like you can see the bird flying through the air. Also, you can see the flag in the background waving. That is what makes this picture successful. EMPHASIS This picture emphasizes the bright pink color of the flower. It makes the color pop and attracts our eyes to the main subject. This picture is successful because while looking at it, you only notice the flower and not the background. HARMONY I find this picture very harmonious. The colors in her earrings and hair make the picture very soothing. There is no harsh colors or intense subjects. It is successful because the subject of the photo brings no tension to the picture. VARIETY This picture is a good example of variety due to the mix of colors, shapes, and subjects in the photograph. This mural is a perfect example of variety and the background is very calm so it makes it successful in the variety aspects of things. UNITY This picture shows unity because everything looks like it is in place and natural. The lighting id natural and thats one thing that makes it successful.

LINE This is a photograph that represents line because the main focus is on the door. The line where the door and the wall separate is the main focus and it is very pleasing to the eye, which is why it is successful. COLOR The first thing that comes to mind when I see this picture is the many different bright colors within the picture. This photograph is a successful representation of color because they pop out to you. SHAPE The shape of the trash can is a circle and that is what you notice when you look at the picture. The orange color and the shape of the trash can gives it a dirty vibe. This makes it successful. FORM I love this picture used to represent form. A picture that represents form often makes the subject in the photograph look three dimensional. The bench is the main subject and it looks like you can sit on it in this picture. The shadow makes this photo successful because it gives it depth. TEXTURE My main goal while taking this picture was to get the texture of the grassy turf. I zoomed in and used a fast shutter speed to capture the very little details of the turf, which makes the grass look so detailed. SPACE When I took this picture I was very high up and I wanted to get a sense of distance. The light pole looks a lot farther away in this picture than it was in person which gives it the sense of space. You can see and feel the space between the lens and the light pole. VALUE When you look at this picture of the mural, you don't see many bright colors. That is exactly what value shows. It shows the dark shadows and colors of the photograph.
To make these photographs happen, I changed my camera settings to exactly what I needed. I put the ISO on 1600. The shutter speed was at 1/1000, which is very fast. The shutter speed was what made the pictures work. I had some struggles while taking the photographs. The photos with the bubbles was very hard to capture because the bubbles would pop very fast and on many of the pictures, I wasn't fast enough to capture the moment. Another one that was difficult was the card pictures because the cards weren't cooperating. To correct these issues, I just held my finger down on the button and captured multiple pictures at once to at least get one. Three things I learned about fast shutter speed are that picture perfect moments can be captured by using fast shutter speed, we can capture things in the air (such as the ball and cards), and that with fast shutter speed it is a lot easier to capture details in a photograph or action. This showed me that I could also use fast shutter speed to capture someone running or fast motions.
This is one thing that pops in my head when I think of the words self respect. The only way to go far in life is to try hard in everything you do, which includes doing your work. This is a photo of my friend Jovanni sitting in the library doing his homework. I made the pencil red because that is the main focus of the picture. I wanted the audience to recognize the hard work and dedication in his face.
I believe that education is key. A lot of people take free education in the United States for granted and every once in a while you have to sit back and realize that the opportunity of having free education is a blessing. In high school, you r future is based upon whether or not you graduate. That also means it depends on whether or not you do your work. Respect yourself. Respect your ability to learn and go forward in your education. There are many advantages to doing your work and succeeding in school. Although college is not free, it could be if you work your hardest and possibly be capable of getting a scholarship. Also I wanted to show that you should respect your school. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show you what I think it means to respect yourself. I took these photos on a tripod in a dark room, with the camera in Manual mode with manual focus. I used the app My Light Painting and had my partner choose their favorite light filters and draw what they wanted to draw, or what they thought would look cool. In one of the pictures we used a glow stick, but it didn't come out bright enough. I didn't have many struggles while creating these cool images, I just figured out that the flash light was too bright and a glow stick wasn't bright enough. Some things I learned from light painting is the camera is very sensitive to color, the shutter speed has to be at a larger whole number (being seconds until it captures the photo, and that the bigger the shutter speed, the more motion it holds.
-To change the camera to Shutter Speed you turn the dial to "S" and turn the nob until you have the shutter speed that you're searching for.
-As I took the pictures, I noticed that in the lens, the smaller shutter speed meant the lens closed slower making the picture more blurry. On the last picture when the shutter speed was 1/3, the picture barely made up any solid figures and was extremely blurry. -Use fast shutter speeds when you want to make an image freeze in the air. Shutter Speed Notes -Shutter speeds are both technical and aesthetic choice that a photographer needs to make before releasing the shutter -Shutter inside the camera controls the duration of the time the sensor is exposed to light. -Capturing blur and motion in photographs can emphasize movement and add drama -Fast shutter speed is often utilized to freeze the movement of a subject -Slow shutter speeds can be used to show motion and visualize movement -shutter speeds are expressed as seconds or fractions of a second -As a general rule to prevent camera shake, you should avoid handholding your camera at a shutter speed slower than 1/2xFocalLength -Using a tripod can help eliminate camera shake when using slower shutter speeds -visual blur and suggestion of movement occurs because the subject is moving against a static background - Layering motion of different subjects moving different directions at different speeds can set up interesting dynamics within a photograph -Fast shutter speeds can make normal subjects appear to freeze in the air. -When photographing people running, close to the camera 1/1000 second or faster should freeze most motion -The distance of subject is from the camera, the speed of subject and the focal length of the kens will affect whether subject is sharp or blurred -Slower shutter speeds can convey motion and movement - Slow shutter speeds combined with panning can help isolate the subject from a busy and distracting background -A tripod combined with a long exposure can capture fireworks -Water movements can be emphasized with long exposures. -Invented in 1839 by Louis Daguerro -Daguerrotypes started with a silver-plated copper plate then placed into a mirror like box until it turned the color yellow. After that, it is placed in a camera obscure camera as light is exposed and a coat of mercury is finally put over the image until it appears. -A Daguerrotype is designed to keep light out and if exposed to light too long, then the image will begin the fade. It contains infinite detail and is very reflective. -The Daguerrotype changed perception of time. -Invented in 1842 by John Herschel
-Chemicals used: Potassium Ferricyanide and Ferric Ammonium Citrate -Step by Step Instructions: 1. Mix Chemicals (Add Ammonium ferric citrate to water into one container and Potassium Ferricyanide to water in another. 2. Prepare Canvas (paint chemicals onto material) 3. Printing (place negative or object in contact with coated paper or canvas) 4. Drying (rinse in cold water) It was just a normal day in the land of Rancho when two dinosaurs met up to search for food. Dinosaurs were very overpopulated in the land and to solve this issue there are many army men who roam the land ready to kill. The dinosaur's were very aware of their surroundings, so they thought, and went along with their day just searching for a bite to eat when they were startled by a sound. An army man who was less than half their size came out of the blue and began to shoot at the dinosaurs. The single bullet shots weren't strong enough to kill them, but there was a certain spot if they got shot at then they would immediately die. That was their eye. The army man, scared for his life, was doing his job and ran after the large creatures. The dinosaurs began to run for their lives. The army man stood in shock while he constantly pulled the trigger and shot towards their eye. The army man was a good man who was just doing his job by trying to get rid of the dangerous animals on the land. Rancho was his home and many civilians too, so the only choice was to get rid of all of the dangerous creatures. At last, the man got one lucky shot straight to the eye of the smaller dinosaur. To make sure the dinosaur was actually dead the man went closer to it and realized it was not breathing. While examining the dinosaur the other got loose and out of sight of the army man. Startled, the man began to run for his life when he realized the dinosaur was right behind him. Just as the man was about to get eaten by the huge dinosaur, Batman swooped in and grabbed him. He saved his life and saved the dinosaur from being shot. One again, Batman saves the day and now the problem in the land isn't the dinosaurs, it is how in the world Batman knew there was trouble going on in the land of Rancho.
While taking these photographs and learning about aperture, I got a better understanding of what exactly aperture does to a photo. The smaller the aperture, the bigger the f/stop, and the bigger the aperture, the smaller the f/stop. Knowing that aperture is the depth of field, it made a lot more sense after looking at the pictures. The first photograph taken with an f/1.8 of the three boxes, showed the first box in focus but the two behind it very blurred. For the f/8 photo, the second box was more focussed, but for the photo taken with the highest f/stop, then the depth of field became wider and the boxes weren't blurred.
Aperture - Depth of Field -Shows the subject of an image -f/stops= the bigger, smaller aperture the smaller, the larger aperture -Wider=Shallow -Narrow=Deep -Corresponding Shutter Speed |
